Star Wars 2010 Titanium DieCast Mini Vehicle NebulonB Excort Frigate Review

(More customer reviews)The Nebulon B is one of those great background elements from Star Wars that you barely notice but which had as much care and attention lavished on it as any of the iconic designs that took center stage.
Star Wars was one of the first science fiction series that really took note that in space there's no need for aerodynamics, so the Nebulon B breaks all the rules for a 'cool' space ship. It's not sleek, it's not streamlines, it has no wings or fins, it has exposed cables and superstructure and random compartments sticking up. And it's great.
The designers wrote they were inspired by the shape of an outboard motor of all things, and then tried to give it a more curved and organic shape to contrast with the Imperial ships which with their sharp edges.
This toy captures the Nebulon B well, it's tough metal and plastic and well painted. It's about 3" long and, though not in scale, looks great on the shelf next to my other Star Wars and Star Trek ships.
My only complaint is the price, I never found one in the stores so I had to pay a premium. Before throwing down $20+ be sure to ask yourself if you can afford it and if you really want one.

2008 Fiat Abarth 500 1/18 Diecast Car Model Bburago Review

(More customer reviews)There seems to be a good chance that the Fiat 500 will be sold in the US, thanks to Fiat's purchase of Chrysler. As a fan of small cars, I am looking forward to the possibility of purchasing one. To that end, I've been "researching" the car, reading the road tests of it in British magazines (and the brief articles in the American press). While not a diecast collector, I do have a few 1/18 scale car models. I was very pleased with the Bburago Fiat 500. At less than half the price of many 1/18 scale models, this one appears to have excellent accuracy of proportions, detail, and workmanship. I'm glad that such a high-quality 1/18 scale diecast is available at this price, and not the $80 to $100 that many 1/18 models sell for. I was able to sit in an actual Fiat 500 at the US MotoGP at Indianapolis in 2009 and it does not disappoint. There is ample space for driver and passenger (I'm 6'3"), though I did not try out the rear seats.

Classic Coach Die-cast County Sheriff Department School Bus Review

(More customer reviews)My son's school bus this first year of kindergarten is a flat-nosed bus, so he really wanted a model like it. This model is sturdy and he likes it. But it does not have a stop sign on the side which he was disappointed about. The seats inside also do not face the way a school bus seats would face. It really seems more like a city bus painted yellow. But it ws the best we could find.

1:64 Diormas Bullitt/ Steve McQueen Series 2 Review

This Series 2 diorama depicts the nearing of end of the classic chase scene from Bullitt; dirt and a level of body damage are even modeled on the 1:64 cars. A great compliment to the Series 1 example. A brief check of a couple of local Toys R Us stores seems to indicate that the Series 2 diorama is being made in greater quantity than the Series 1 counterpart was and at least for now seem to be in plentiful supply. One store had a dozen of these on hand, something I never saw with the Series 1 diorama. It pays to shop around; the price that Amazon is currently asking is too high by 1/3rd. Having said all that, for a collector who wants a mint sealed boxed example it could be difficult; as shipped to local retailers they seem to have plenty of damage to the display boxes, particularly with the clear plastic window.

Hot Wheels Star Trek U.S.S. Saratoga NCC-1867 Review

(More customer reviews)This is a repaint of the Reliant, just as the on screen Saratoga was a reuse of the Reliant Model from Star Trek 2. This ship was seen briefly in Star Trek IV, as one of the Star-ships attempting to scan (and being disabled by) the giant "whale probe". It was also the first ship to have an on-screen female captain, (played by Madge Sinclair). As far as the Model itself, If you have the Reliant, you know what to expect, it's very white, too white. It looks like someone bought a reliant model kit and assembled it without painting it, just applying the decals. some grays here and there would have been nice. So why four stars? The sculpt more than makes up for the lack of color. (the torpedo pod looks great) and the markings are clear. plus its nice to see a few alternate names and registries besides Enterprise.

The details are amazing, the race dirty effect is appropiately applied, the Schumi figurine adds to the presentaion of this leather mounted model is one of the nicest you can admire before finding the right place for it in your collection display. Now that Schumi has made his return to F1 in a Mercedes all of these special edition Ferraris will be even more valueable. The legend will expand a few more chapters but the emmotional moment Schumi announced his retirement at Monza, after that action packed race will never be deleted from all of our memories or the record books for all his contributions as of then.

Toy Story > Hotwheels: Hamm on Wheels Die Cast Vehicle Review

(More customer reviews)Hamm on Wheels is one of the better character cars representing the characters from Toy Story 3. I think this was originally designed to appear in the normal mass produced vehicles due to some of the design, and I would have bought it from there as it is a great representation of pigs on wheels and as good as most of the other creature cars Hot Wheels has brought out. As a representation of the specific money box character from the Toy Story movies though, I think it's good but could have better. I would have liked to have seen Hamm's oversized nose on the front of the car, it's a prominent feature of his character on screen and it really needed to be on the car and should be where the grill is. I think the engine and massive exhaust pipes were there when this was just in the regular mass produced range faze of design. The exhaust pipes didn't need to be there, which would also have kept the consistency with the other 7 vehicles in this series. If they wanted to include an engine maybe it would have been better to resemble the top of a coin or a note. The windshields would have also represented Hamm more if they were round like his eyes.
I would have also liked to see the belly cork that keeps the money in on the undercarriage or something since this was also a major part of his character.
The thing though that annoys me the most about this is that they scrapped the wheels with the gold hubcaps with the cent and dollar sign symbols and just grabbed some from the mass produced range. Now if this was sold in the mass produced range that would have been fine but these vehicles retailed for about six times the price so Mattel should have absorbed the few extra cents it costs them to mass produce and put them on these cars. Mattel and Hot Wheels did similar things with Wheelin' Woody, Rex Rider and some of the other cars too which I don't think is right since buyers did pay a premium price for these at the checkout and leaving them the same as their prototypes would have justified that.
But Hamm on Wheels is what it is and it's still a great car. The packaging it comes in is pretty good. There is a nice image of the character in the bottom right corner, I would have liked to have not seen the 3 in the Toy Story 3 logo so it could represent all three and any future movies but you can't have everything.

1:24 Scale Diecast Speed Racer Mach 5 Review

(More customer reviews)I bought this mainly because I thought it was cheap for the size, and it is! 1:24 scale basically is as large as an adult hand. The design is really beautiful, considering it's taken from two-dimensional drawings, but it absolutely has the feel of the original series Mach 5. It's a bit large for me, because all I do is look at it, but when I have kids over, it's large and interesting enough to hold their interest for a while. (Kids unfortunately, prefer my spring-motor SUV, because it "goes")
This model/toy is a strange size, but it's fun to play with, and makes a nice collectible if you have a bit of space to display it. Personally I prefer the smaller 1:32 and 1:64 versions, because I just keep little toys around my workspace, but the craftsmanship and durability on this Mach 5 are truly excellent! I'm waiting for a die-cast "Shooting Star" series (Racer X's car) from Jada toys, they are excellent crafters!
(Also, the working doors are nice, but they don't seem to conform to the series, they cut the "5" in half, which is off-putting. If you are looking for details, though, they are pretty well-made.)

1:18 2010 Ford Mustang GT Performance White Review

(More customer reviews)I really expected a GREAT item when I see it's officially licenesed by Ford. Now I see why I drive a Chevy. I bought this as a gift and I did not see any evidence of official licensure. No sequential numbering , no awesome paint job, no nice packaging. I REALLY expected much,much more for 60 plus dollars. I got a metal looking car with a plastic interior that appeared produced as any japanese mass produced toy. It looks cheap, feels cheap, but is not cheap. Greenlight needs to try much harder because their product may sell but its only because I couldnt find anything else in 2010 mustang models. This would make a good childs toy at a cheaper price, but it makes a horrible collectible for an adult at the price point you have to pay.

The gauge cluster on the speedo missing. screw stripped out that holds the back wheels on. Just remember you get what you pay for and yes...I would buy it again. Another thing is that Maisto is undersized, it is more like a 1/19 or even a 1/20 scale compared to higher end collectables

1:18 Dukes of Hazzard General Lee Review

I have no complains overall; however, some people might be bothered by some small details which I'll mention FYI. 1) the doors' handles don't match 2) the doors are hard to open (i haven't open them because i'm afraid they will break) 3) It's based on the movie not on the tv show, in fact, the box has a picture of Jessica Simpson and those two other guys. She's cute but those two other guys made me trow away the box altogether. Anyway, I am not really complaining, I'm very happy with it, it looks great, just thought people buying it should know these things beforehand. I do recommend it though.
