Dragon Models 1/72 NASA Apollo 8 Command/Service Module (CSM) Review

Dragon Models 1/72 NASA Apollo 8 Command/Service Module (CSM)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
First, let's be clear: this is not a "toy", but a pre-finished, finely-detailed aerospace model. It's certainly not the first Apollo CSM collectible, but for the price it's the finest I've ever seen. Many times a product's web pictures flatter it when compared to its real life appearance, but in this case I'd say the sales pics don't do it justice. The tiny markings, delicate EVA grab handles, intricate docking probe, photoetched high gain antenna, and more add up to an impressive display.
Best as I can tell, without yanking out all my reference, is that the detail and finish are highly accurate. Some limited assembly (screwing and snapping things in place) is required, it does not present a technical challenge. Just be careful... especially when removing the CSM from its shipping carton (read those instructions!) and when snapping in the RCS thrusters (as to not break off any nozzles with misplaced finger pressure).
The quality of the finish is top notch and the packaging is carefully thought out as to preserve that finish. While some may find 1/72 a little small for their tastes, I quite like the size. It means that it easily fits on most desks or shelves.
I will definitely be buying more in Dragon's Space line and look forward to both their I-J mission configurations, as well as their Apollo-Soyuz in the future.

Apollo 8 holds an unrepeatable record it was the first human spaceflight to leave the Earth s orbit. This occurred on December 21 1968, when a Saturn V SA-503 rocket launched it into space from the Kennedy Space Center in Florida. It reached the far side of the Moon, a destination that took three days to reach. Its place in history doesn t stop here, for it was also the first manned spacecraft to return to Earth from the Moon, after orbiting the Moon ten times! The enormous success of NASA s Apollo 8 mission paved the way for Apollo 11, where the USA achieved the goal of first landing man on the Moon. Dragon previously launched its Apollo 7 in 1/72 scale, and its space program has taken another giant leap forward. This time the Apollo 8 Command Module is also appearing in the same scale. The fully built-up and pre-painted Apollo 8 spacecraft is the second 1/72 scale in Dragon s space series, and it certainly lives up to the standard set by the earlier model spacecraft. It is full of detail, and the colors are an excellent match to the original craft as it looked during its famous flight in 1968, an event that captured the most television viewers ever up till that time. To display the miniature replica of this historic craft, Dragon supplies a stylish stand. In the form of Apollo 8, Dragon offers spaceship fans a fine second item in its out-of-this-world collection!

Stryker ICV Light Armored Vehicle Trumpeter Review

Having just returned to plastic modelling, I wanted something that was a challenge, but not too difficult. This is an excellent model for the intermediate or casual modeller. The parts fit well, particularly the suspension and wheels. The only issue I had was with the protective cages around the mirrors on the front. Otherwise, a fine product. I'll buy Trumpeter again.

Titanium Series Star Wars 3 Inch Vehicles Sandcrawler Review

Titanium Series Star Wars 3 Inch Vehicles Sandcrawler
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
First of all, the packaging on this (see my customer images) clearly states "Includes Display Stand". This vehicle does not come with a display stand, I took mine back to the shop and so they opened a few others as well and none have a display stand. So I did get to keep the item for free due to the false advertising factor but having to return something online is always a bit of a nightmare so I'll give you the heads up before you decide to purchase or not. Still a nice vehicle to own, and you should still buy it but obviously the price in your head is going to be a bit lower than you would pay for the vehicle when it comes with a display stand. No stand is a shame as it's pretty much the only one of these Star Wars Titanium things where it isn't readily recognisable by most people visiting your house that it is a Star Wars thing without you saying in response to "what the hey is this thing?" It's the Sandcrawler from Star Wars that those little hooded guys (yes Jawas but if you know this you probably would have recognised the vehicle) sold the droids to Luke and his uncle from." I know the stands that most of the other vehicles (for example Jabba's Sail Barge) wouldn't work with a non floating vehicle but they could easily have used the same stand they used for the Indiana Jones Indiana Jones Titanium Series Die-Cast Vehicles, they could have even used the exact same painted one, all they would have had to do was change the sticker to the Star Wars logo.
It also would have been nice to include a few little Jawas either inside the hatch (which opens) or just loose to display beside the vehicle. A major characteristic of the various movie line range by Hasbro Titanium series is the bonus movie character figures that are attached to the vehicles. With Star Wars they haven't put much effort into this, only the odd stormtrooper on a vehicle (or reptile). If you're not going to include a stand then the Jawas were essential for identifying the vehicle.
The Sandcrawler is quite a heavy little thing, you will surprised by the weight, there is no other Titanium series vehicle I have come across from any movie that weighs even half this much. The tank like treads on the vehicle do not move. Like with the Persian Tank out of Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, Hasbro has put little wheels underneath the base (see customer images). They are very well hidden and you don't notice them without flipping the Sandcrawler, so I'll give them that. The vehicle also moves extremely fast with these wheels. Why when the one in the movie doesn't move like a racecar does the replica need to though, who knows?
As I mentioned before the front does open up. It doesn't however quite reach the ground so droids like R2 wouldn't be able to get up the ramp without being picked up. Wussy robots like C3PO would probably also trip making the gap. A bit disappointing on the inside, just a grey wall with a few tools in front and sticking out of the wall. As I said before, Jawas would have been nice or even a few droids rather than the average wall.
It's quite well detailed on the outside, I haven't gone back and looked at the scenes in Star Wars to see just how accurate these are but check out my images and decide for yourself. By the way if you are unfamiliar with this type of packaging it is very different to your usual diecast vehicle blister pack. It is a lot stronger and if posted to you would ensure the vehicle reaches you in better condition than the traditional style would. You can open the packet by slitting down the side, top and bottom and open the packaging mummy casket style if you think you may want to be able to sell this later with the packaging intact (although obviously opened but sealed with sticky tape.)

Nothing like the toys I played with 70 years ago. But in the same timeperiod in style. Like most Ertl products this 1939 Dodge Truck brings back memories of the real thing I often saw as a child. This one came looking like it is brand new, shiney and bright. This product was as discribed and delivery was fast. Recommended.

Fireman Sam Diecast Mountain Rescue Helicopter with Sounds Review

Fireman Sam Diecast Mountain Rescue Helicopter with Sounds
Average Reviews:

We were so excited when this toy arrived, but to our dismay, the color was orange, whereas the TV show in the US depicts the helicopter as red. Additionally, the skids are a hard plastic (not metal) and one of them broke the first day we had it. VERY EXPENSIVE for this little, mis-colored, breakable toy.

1/48 HSO SR71 Blackbird Review

1/48 HSO SR71 Blackbird
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I believe this kit was first issued in the 1970's. It is mighty big, mighty impressive, and a tad short of detail.
The principal problem with a re-issued kit is that the older technology problems are never really corrected. The ship is dead-on accurate, quite surprising given the restricted data available during the Cold War era. However, all SR-71 kits during this period from all manufacturers were shallow on cockpit detail, very disappointing in that the canopy can be left open at the builder's discretion.
Once upon a time, True Details Corp. produced an excellent add-on for this kit's cockpit; I don't know if is still available. Another area which can be greatly enhanced are the exhaust nozzles, via yet another after-market product, Cutting Edge Modelworks nozzle assemblies, which is still available.
You will need four hands or two really big, dexterous ones to assemble this kit. If you have never used glue clamps, this kit will give you an appreciation for them.
In my humble opinion, Testor's cheated you out of the much more interesting YF-12A "interceptor" version. It's main attraction is a two-tone color scheme. Of course, a motivated modeler could kit-bash a one-of-a-kind substitute, as there is now previously classified data for it.
Due to its size, I cannot recommend it to a beginner. Decal adhesion to wing corrugations might be a problem but decal-softening solvents will save the day. This kit plus add-on extras could produce a masterpiece in basic black. Don't forget those glue clamps.

Seller was awesome in getting the product to me, but I was disappointed in the items themselves. They have a place for batteries but there is NO reason to have batteries in the toys. I had to travel to a neighboring city to get the batteries just to find out that the toy had no need for the batteries. Unsure as to why the toys even have the place to put batteries.
Toys are awesome for display purposes...

Yat Ming Scale 1:18 - 1961 Chrysler Imperial Crown Review

Yat Ming Scale 1:18 - 1961 Chrysler Imperial Crown
Average Reviews:

Excellent product. I collect 1:18 cars (collection of 70+, all brands and makes) and this is one of the two or three best ones I have. And the others cost 90 or 100 dollars apiece. AN ABSOLUTE STEAL!!!! Better quality than many AutoArt I own that cost 3 or 4 times as much! The windows go up and down, the sun visors flip, the rear center armrest flips down, the front seats flip, the antenna goes up and down. All of this with a thick (for a model car) carpet, amazing detail, and real hinges on the hood (not arms). Compare at other sites for up to 3 times the cost, and this car is an all-around steal.

It is an attractive, much less expensive alternative. The car 1:18 scale is rather ideal for display on the shelf or for use with other toys. Please note that I was a bit disappointed that the the rolled back convertible top was not black as pictured, but light tan like the rest of the interior. (Does the car actually still come with a black convertible rolled back top as pictured? If it does, I would prefer it rather than the one sent. Thanks.)

Maisto 1/18 Lamborghini Gallardo Spyder: White all Review

Maisto 1/18 Lamborghini Gallardo Spyder: White all
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I needed a classy gift for my boyfriend's birthday and decided on the sporty-look Lamborghini model car. After reviewing other websites, I checked out Amazon.com and was pleasantly surprised with their vast selection of model cars. Since my boyfriend REALLY LOVES CONVERTIBLES, I knew the Lamborghini Gallardo Spyder 2006 Lamborghini Gallardo Spyder diecast model car 1:18 scale die cast by Maisto - Silver 31136 was the best choice. For a "toy" the car is ABSOLUTELY GEORGEOUS! The 1:18 scale is large and makes you want to investigate every detail the same as you would the real car. I chose the Gallardo Spyder in silver and placed it--in its original packaging next to a bottle of sake inside a leather gift box.
When my boyfriend tore off the gift wrap and opened the box, he had the biggest laugh! This is his FIRST Lamborghini and he LOVED the novelty gift. The next day he told me he stayed up playing with his Lamborghini Gallardo Spyder. The steering wheel actually turns the front wheels of the car and he wore gloves because he didn't want to leave fingerprints on it. The car is securely mounted to a black platform and my boyfriend left it that way as it adds elegance to the car's appearance--similar to a showroom. He's also buying car polish to keep it shiny. This is a PERFECT BIRTHDAY GIFT!

I bought this set to keep at my house for my grandsons. The toy was an instant success, and even the parents were choosing favorites. The cars are very well made and durable. I feel like the price for the set was reasonable for the 6 cars that are in the package. I think the educational value is in the sharing aspect, more so than in any other concept.
