Ferrari F50 Elite Edition 1/18 Yellow Review

First off, for those who don't know, Hot Wheels 1/18 die-casts comes in 3 different qualities. From worst to best: Foundation (usually just called Hot Wheels and has a MSRP $30), Elite (MSRP $70), and Super Elite (MSRP $230). I have 7 Elite models myself - most of the Elite models were bought to replace my older Foundation models. Having said that, the Elite is a new branding - Hot Wheels basically took the older models, added more details, smooted out the rough edges of the exterior, and put on a better paint job. It's a mixed bag, with some of the Elite models NOT being that much better than the Foundation model (the 360, 575M and F50). Some Elite models (Enzo, F40, and F430) are HUGE improvements over the Foundation models.
The Hot Wheels Elite F50 I ordered is not that much better than my Foundation F50. Putting it side-by-side, the only improvement of the Elite models is: the paint is richer/thicker, the clear plastic such as the windshield and headlights are more clear, and the engine is painted with the appropriate colors like the real car. There are still rough edges on the die-cast mold of this Elite model. The one thing that is worst compared to the $30 model are the wheels. For some reason, the Elite version sits very noticeably high - a huge gap between the tires and the wheel wells. It actually looked really funny. My non-Elite model was perfectly fine. I had to spend 30 minutes taking a Dremel modifying the car height from the innards.
All of that said, the Elite F50 model is overall, better than the Foundation model (once I fixed the height issue). But it's not worth spending the extra $40 for the Elite version of the F50. You could easily find the non-Elite version for $30. If you're interested in the Hot Wheels Elite models, I highly recommend the: Ferrari F430, Enzo, F40, or 288 GTO.

Great Car, And Detail But No Opening Doors,Hood,Etc all Sealed, Too Expensive.I don't know why AutoArt(AA/Gateway Global LTD) Decided to do "Sealed" Cars at a such Extreme price $90!+ Models should be $50. I happen to have the BADBOY JAKE # 4 AND THE YELLOW PLAIN , No opening doors or hood, etc. All sealed, Great Detail Nonetheless, I wish they would reduce the price, or come out with non Sealed Models at a affordable price. It's a Shame Really. The old C5R'S were great and are great. But these are sealed.
Autoart If your out there reading this Please Consider, AS Well AS Consider doing A ARTIC WHITE # 3(Sebring 2007/Ron Fellows) Corvette C6.R and # 33 Mosport Artic White 2007 C6.R/Ron Fellows Car.

We picked up 4 of these trucks for Christmas so we could all race at the same time. Right out of the box, one of them had control issues and didn't respond very good to the controls. After a while of fiddling and changing channels, we finally got all 4 to behave reasonably well together. If the trucks got too close together, the controls would interfere and at time you could control two at a time even when they were on different channels. After about a month of playtime, one of them started getting louder (probabl gears failing and grindigng) and slowing down. It would still go reasonable fast backwards, but forwards was down to a crawl. About a month later a second one started getting slower and louder and it's almost unusable at this point. We still have two left that work reasonable well, but for as much as they cost, they certainly didn't live up to our expectations. I'm hoping we'll get another month or two out of the two remaining trucks, but I'm not very confident.

1936 Packard Twelve Sport Phaeton Review

1936 Packard Twelve Sport Phaeton

I have never bought products directly from Danbury Mint. I bought this Danbury Mint product from a third-party seller on ebay. There are product flaws! On the one I received, a cowl window pane was missing from the front passenger-side window cowl. The rear passenger-side cowl window-frame was not tightly hinged, and came loose. I shopped for another one on ebay; in the sellers listing of another one, the seller disclosed a cowl window pane came off. So the cowl window panes coming off these models is a rampant problem. I emailed customer service. They give me a response that they cant issue a replacement because i didnt buy it from them. However, I never mentioned any issue of replacement. I said in plain english: this item has production flaws! I said "fix the production flaws." I emailed them a second time. I await their second response. Packards were beautiful cars, and packard diecast replicas are great model cars to collect. But the dual cowl is a unique packard. that windshield in the rear with the cowl swing-out panes makes it unique. one missing pane or one cowl coming off at the hinge ruins the whole expierience of owning it and looking at it and displaying it. third-party sellers selling an opened and handled product is not the issue. it would not fall apart if it were made correctly.

Lancia Delta HF Integrale Evoluzione 2 1/18 White Pearl

I bought this car as a gift, not something I would buy for myself only because it isn't something I'm all that in to. It is a beautiful model and very detailed down to the texture on the seatbelts and carpets, little indicator lights, gas cap and all the controls inside. I would say the extra money you spend on this model is worth it, as I have seen cheaper ones that aren't very nice.

6-31779 Lionel O Amtrak HHP-8 Passenger Set Lionel Review

6-31779 Lionel O Amtrak HHP-8 Passenger Set Lionel
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
The Amtrak HHP-8 Amfleet Passenger Set's dual motor HHP-8 engine is the most powerful engine I've ever seen included in a Lionel Ready-To-Run train set, able to pull every single car I could fit onto the layout, albeit at a relatively slow speed once I got above 18 cars using the included CW-80 80-Watt Transformer. The reason for all this power becomes evident once you lift one of the three included foot and a half long super heavyweight Amfleet coaches. None of my other engines could even move all three of them, but the HHP-8 can haul them at a very high speed.
Note: Beware of tunnels and underpasses and all other overhead clearance issues with pantographs raised.
Note: Lionel makes a number of add-on cars for this set: an Amtrak ExpressTrak Baggage Car and an Amfleet Phase IVB 2-Pack of two additional, uniquely numbered coaches for putting together a longer, more realistic consist, plus an additional, uniquely numbered Amtrak HHP-8 Electric Locomotive #664 with the RailSounds sound system. However, the Amfleet Controlled End Car that is uniform with these Amfleet coaches doesn't belong if you are seeking accuracy because in real life it isn't used with HHP-8 engine consists.
Although this set comes with O-48 curves in order to better accommodate these very long coaches, none of the included or available add-on cars or engines require greater than O-36 curves, so you can easily add a Lionel FasTrack Siding Track Add-On Track Pack and either an Outer Passing Loop Add-On Track Pack or an Inner Passing Loop Add-On Track Pack, despite the O-36 curves and switches they contain. For either of the last two you will just need 12 inches of additional Lionel FasTrack to make up for the additional diameter of the O-48 curves, and the simplest way to accomplish that is with 1 5" Half Straight Track and 4 1 3/4" Straight Track pieces.
A truly exceptional O gauge set for the Amtrak enthusiast or any modern era model railroader!

1009001 Atlas O Industrial Rail Southern Fast Freight Train Set Review

1009001 Atlas O Industrial Rail Southern Fast Freight Train Set
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
If you are going to challenge Lionel at the Ready-To-Run train set level, then you'd better have something that gives you an edge, and for the most part in their Industrial Rail category, Atlas does. They start out with a beautifully detailed die-cast metal 4-4-2 steam locomotive and tender, with headlight, puffing smoke, and transformer-activated whistle and bell sounds.
Note: The manual says not to run the smoke generator unit without smoke fluid to avoid damaging it, so if you don't wish to make smoke, you must switch it off, using a switch underneath the engine on the right side just above and in front of the trailing wheels. Unfortunately the smoke switch isn't marked on the locomotive, only on the diagram in the manual, so remember: forward is on, rearward is off. Once you have removed and set aside the plastic plug that comes stuck in the smokestack, you will note how narrow it is. A steady hand and a fine pointed dispenser are required to add fluid to it, and unless you have something finer, you should save and refill the little bottle of smoke fluid that comes with your set. In addition this smoke generator works differently than I'm used to. At low speeds, especially when starting up, it gives off very little smoke so don't be fooled into overfilling it.
Defects? Just some cautions. The wires connecting engine and tender seem rather flimsy. I've had wires pull out of the BACK of the connectors after derailing separated the draw bar coupling; fortunately, I was able to push them right back in. In addition the spring loaded electrical pickups on the locomotive project lower than I've ever seen before; when the front one hits the projecting electromagnet of a Lionel FasTrack Uncoupling Track at any speed, the whole engine visibly bounces with sparks flying. (Perhaps the electromagnet of an Atlas O Industrial Rail 10" Uncoupling Track doesn't project as far.)
The rolling stock is equally beautiful: die-cast metal trucks and operating couplers, highly detailed ABS plastic bodies, and detailed underframes on the (opening doors) boxcar, gondola and caboose.
Track: Atlas claims that their IR track is more realistic looking than Lionel's FasTrack, and based on the t-rail alone, they are correct. Unfortunately Atlas IR track is also a real @#$%^&*! to put together, requiring a LOT of careful pin lining up, lateral pressure, and deleted expletives; compared to this, connecting Lionel FasTrack really is a snap. The flip side is that Atlas IR track doesn't separate as easily as Lionel FasTrack does when you don't want it to...
or of course when you finally want it to. Taking Atlas IR track apart will be another time you don't want impressionable children listening to you while you struggle! In addition Atlas IR track has an annoying tendency I thought I had left behind with tubular track: pin transference. It will be worth the effort to take a pair of pliers and put all the stray electrical connecting pins back where they belong in the exact same pattern of IN-IN-OUT at one end and OUT-IN-IN at the other end as shown in the manual before boxing up the track in order to avoid jamming pins together when you reassemble the track.
Note: It goes without saying that Atlas IR track and Lionel FasTrack are incompatible, but both companies make transition track for hooking up to tubular track: an Atlas O Industrial Rail 10" Transition Track and a Lionel FasTrack Transition Piece, but whether these two can be directly fastened together or will require a piece of tubular track as a bridge is a question I cannot yet answer.
Transformer: Despite both being rated at 80 Watts AC, the Atlas O Industrial Rail Transformer, 80W that comes with this set is noticeably more powerful than the similarly rated Lionel CW-80 80-Watt Transformer I was using before. The accompanying paperwork (on both) is a bit unclear but it appears that the Atlas produces about 3 more Amps and 3 more Volts; suddenly EVERY engine could pull every single car I could fit on the layout, up to the limits of coupler strength and adhesion.
Ironically, with the exception of a separate accessory control dial, an on/off switch, and sheer power, IMHO the Lionel transformer is superior to the Atlas in every way: ergonomic throttle vs. stupid dial, thumbscrew terminals vs. flat blade screw terminals, and pierced terminal posts (for hooking wires through) vs. solid terminal posts. Even the Direction, Whistle, and Bell button action of the Lionel is superior,...
but it is packed up in the box it came in while the Atlas is powering my Lionel FasTrack layout.
Finally, IMHO the hidden, under track, permanently attached terminal wires of the Lionel FasTrack Terminal Section makes it clearly superior, both in function and realism, to the boxy, visible, flat blade screw trackside attachments for the unattached wires of the Atlas O Industrial Rail 10" Terminal Track.
Thus in conclusion, IMHO Atlas IR makes the grade as an alternative to Lionel FasTrack well worth considering, as long as you keep its limitations in mind.

I received my 1/8 Sunstar 1956 Mercury Montclair Hardtop and was very pleased with its appearance and condition. This is the car I purchased brand new just before getting married and drove to New York City for our honeymoon. Great car. If you have the coup (same exterior color) with the turquois and white interior I would like to purchase it as well. Thanks again. - Steve

I think it is a very detailed replica of the 1977 Pontiac Firebird Trans-Am from the cult classic Smokey & the Bandit. The only thing it is missing, which is pretty obvious, is the C.B. antenea in between the two T-roofs. It is a beautiful car but NOT a TOY !!

Take Along Meteor Vehicle 4-Pack Review

Take Along Meteor Vehicle 4-Pack
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Note that this set is just the four individual toys in their regular packaging shipped together. So you get four trucks, four little ramps (not the barrels shown in the picture), and four DVDs. Each DVD features a bio of the truck it comes with. They're neat, but they only run about 7 minutes each -- you aren't getting actual episodes of the show. They also include printable coloring pages and simple PC games.
The trucks are of good quality and some of them have moving parts. The wheels are spring-loaded (pull back and let go and they zoom), and the trucks have magnetic couplers on the back that let them pull each other or train toys (the couplers are the same as those on the "Take-Along" Thomas toys, although these toys are too big to run on any track sets, even bigger ones).
If your child is a fan of these characters, then this set is a good deal over buying the individual toys separately.
