(More customer reviews)haven't used it yet, it is for our 3 year olds birthday, she has been begging for a pink fishing pole. The one that came was NOT the one I ordered, which bummed me out, cause the one they sent, I had seen cheaper at walmart (& others on here with eligable for FREE SHIP & this one did not)but ordered the OTHER want I wanted when I found it here, I was disappointed, but it is still a pink fishing pole, so I guess that will work.

Barbie Spincast Rod and Reel Packaged Combo Kit Review

(More customer reviews)I had a couple of Zebco spincast rods and reels similar to this when I was a kid. They were generally reliable, so I thought one of these would make a good first rod for my 5 year old daughter. But I picked this model up for her last weekend and it just doesn't work. Sometimes it will cast as far as 4 or 5 feet. Most of the time it locks up and does nothing at all, even though I am operating the thing properly.
This reel is unfortunately a completely piece of junk. Literally, you'd be better off tying some line to a flexible stick.

Shakespeare Princess Spincast Combo Kit Review

(More customer reviews)This is not really a toy. It is just a pink miniature version of a real fishing rod and reel. The reel has a drag setting and comes pre-loaded with some pretty light line. It also comes with a rubber fish that you can attach to the end of the line for practice in the backyard.
The rod and reel work very well and can actually catch fish. The fishing line is pretty weak, so expect it to break if you catch anything over a few pounds.
My 3 1/2 year old daughter was very happy with this.
Don't eat the fishing rod (see comments re: lead paint) - duh!!!
