1:64 John Deere 9870STS Combine Review

This combine is a hefty die-cast toy that comes with a plastic "corn head" and a "flex head". (Am I farmer? No, I'm suburban born and bred, but we've moved to a small town where we've made friends with a farmer!) It has a plastic ladder to the cabin and a plastic "unloading auger" (tube) that swings out and extends (by straightening on a joint). The stickers and painted details add to the realism.
The notable flaw is the way that the heads attach to the vehicle. The plastic heads have pinchers that flex to grab onto two "pips" on the vehicle. Your child might have difficulty getting the heads onto the vehicle. They attach firmly, but are easily removed as well. I worry that, over time, the plastic pinchers will loosen. So far, it hasn't happened.
The flex head doesn't rotate when you "drive" the vehicle, either. Compare this to the Lego City Set #7636 Combine Harvester: the flex head rolls on the ground (carpet?) when you push the toy, so it looks like the combine is really working. On this combine, the rotating blades are held up by two wheels --- more realistic, yes, but less "functional" (for play). My son doesn't mind, it seems.
I like the quality of this toy, overall. It's fun... if your child is into it.

1999 Chevrolet Corvette Convertible Red Diecast Model 1:18 Die Cast Car Review

I bought this for my dad, whom is a Corvette guy, he loved it. He has it on display so no one plays with it or anything, I don't really see it as a toy but as a model. The doors even open. It comes with a little stand for it to sit on which is nice. I don't know about it being a good toy for a kid but I know it's a great model for a car enthusiast.

AMT 2009 Dodge Challenger R/T Model Kit Review

AMT 2009 Dodge Challenger R/T Model Kit

This is a nice model and has a lot of detail except for one thing - the hood is removable, but there's no engine under it, just a flat piece of plastic. On the bottom of the model, the engine/front suspension is molded in. On the positive side, there is a lot of detail on the rest of the model. Take your time and do it right and it can come out looking pretty sweet. I'd get the Revell model, but they only make the SRT version.

Road Signature Scale 1:18 - 1966 Oldsmobile Toronado - Gold Review

Road Signature Scale 1:18 - 1966 Oldsmobile Toronado - Gold
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
When you come to be knowledgeable enough in any field- office supplies, airsoft or paintball equipment, model cars or real ones- you come to know who some of the good, not-so-good, and downright bad manufacturers are. The Road Signatures line from Yat Ming is one of the most impressive I've ever encountered. Their work ranks considerably above the average model from Maisto or whatever they're called now, and it is rather nice in a way that Yat Ming is not some lazy American, British or Italian model car maker but a genuinely Chinese model car maker. It makes a lot more sense that their cars, most of the time, are made in China.
Moving on.
This is an exquisite work, truly. 1:18 scale with metallic gold exterior paint, lots of plastic made to simulate the appearance of chrome, and a simulated black interior, this replica 1966 Oldsmobile Toronado has all you could ask for in such a model besides working head and taillights. The headlights do have some function- a tab on the underside of the car and just aft of the bumper can raise the headlights or retract whatever holds them up, but the headlights must be pushed down by hand. Easy enough to do, and it allows you to display the model with the lights up or down.
So- opening doors, moving headlights, turning tires and steering wheel, and a raisable hood. Those are the functions the model has. The brand and model name is marked as it was on the real car, naturally. Very nicely made and detailed with plenty of miscellaneous functions. And the front wheels do turn, yes.
This is not the kind of model car for anyone who seeks to use it in a more... active role. I have found folks of younger ages to often be smarter than they are given credit for, but there aren't too many very young collectors of more detailed, fragile models. Point being, make sure you or whoever might be getting this model Toronado knows what it is for. Detailed and well-made it is, but it is also easy to break if you try using it as a toy. Toy cars, like those Volkswagen bugs made by Tonka all those years back, are made with less of an eye for detail and more of an eye for durability. This is a model car, and it is not meant for strenuous use.
Lastly, remember that this is a 1:18 scale model- those tend to be a foot long most of the time- of a very large car. I'd say this model of the Toronado is well over 12 inches in length. Not but so compact a model, so keep that in mind as well.
Do I recommend it? Yes. But I'd hate to see someone buy this model expecting one thing and getting something else, so keep all of what I said in mind.
Did you know that the 1966 Oldsmobile Toronado was featured in Quentin Wilson's book, "Great Car"? Now you do. So be happy.

Titanium Series Star Wars 3.75 Forged Boba Fett Limited Edition Vintage Finish Review

Titanium Series Star Wars 3.75 Forged Boba Fett Limited Edition Vintage Finish
Average Reviews:

The item is cool. Unfortunately, it is not available from Amazon, even though they sent an email advertising it. But, it's just as well. The last one I received was crushed, but, Amazon did not care.
The item itself, however, is pretty cool. A little pricey, at $15 for a figure that is under 4" tall; but, it's beautiful-for-display packaging (so long as Amazon doesn't destroy it) is awesome looking, and that is typical retail pricing.
The regular version is equally cool for display (again, as long as Amazon does not crush it, during the packaging process).
Buying tip: This item is not for child play. These are for collectors. Packaging on these is extremely important.
