John Deere Piece Construction Set-1 Review

(More customer reviews)These are NOT die-cast! Most of the body is plastic with some metal pins that hook the wheels into the chassis, which is the only die-cast part. The chassis is the main frame underneath. I am so disappointed and would return it if I had time to find an alternative. I'm afraid these won't last very long at all. Sure wish they were as advertised.

(More customer reviews)I was pleasantly surprised with this purchase. I had never ordered from Amazon before, so I was skeptical about the products I was ordering. This tractor is a hard to find item in local stores, it was available on-line. It is good quality and durable-it stands up to my 5 year olds abuse. It also was inexpensive compared to other John Deere toys I have bought. Very satisfied!

(More customer reviews)My three year old eventually broke this...but after 6 months of heavy use. Lots of digging at the beach. The Cat tracks were the first to go....then the bucket. I blame the usage more than the product....it s fairly well made.We even bought a second excavator. Go for it!

1:16 John Deere 3020 Tractor With Plow Review

(More customer reviews)The right fender broke off while we were opening the package. It was attached with a single small screw and it had been stripped out. Some attempt to repair it had been made with putty or glue even though it was evidently still securely in original factory packaging. The tractor is flimsy and poorly manufactured. Broke waiting to happen. I don't expect that the fenders would be on it for more than a few hours of play even if they were perfect to start with. Also note that there are dual wheels on one side only, by design, very awkward looking. The back wheels are very thin and plastic, like someone put the tractor version of those thin undersized spare tires on the tractor instead of full size tractor tires. Not worth the money, or the disappointment for you or the child.

11" John Deere Tough Tractor Review

(More customer reviews)I ordered this tractor for my 22 month old and he loves it. It is very durable ... Has survived many dive bomb crashes off his play table on to the wood floor. It has a working Steering wheel that moves the axle which is my son favorite part of the tractor. Also great in the sand box. Definitely recommend it! I will be purchasing more like it for his 2nd bday.Great price too!

(More customer reviews)This is a nice large 1:16 tractor but its made of plastic which has not broken yet but I'm afraid it will soon. The hitch is removable which is very easy for a kid to lose. Definitely not as durable as the 1:16 die cast tractor I had as a kid.

1:64 John Deere 9870STS Combine Review

(More customer reviews)This combine is a hefty die-cast toy that comes with a plastic "corn head" and a "flex head". (Am I farmer? No, I'm suburban born and bred, but we've moved to a small town where we've made friends with a farmer!) It has a plastic ladder to the cabin and a plastic "unloading auger" (tube) that swings out and extends (by straightening on a joint). The stickers and painted details add to the realism.
The notable flaw is the way that the heads attach to the vehicle. The plastic heads have pinchers that flex to grab onto two "pips" on the vehicle. Your child might have difficulty getting the heads onto the vehicle. They attach firmly, but are easily removed as well. I worry that, over time, the plastic pinchers will loosen. So far, it hasn't happened.
The flex head doesn't rotate when you "drive" the vehicle, either. Compare this to the Lego City Set #7636 Combine Harvester: the flex head rolls on the ground (carpet?) when you push the toy, so it looks like the combine is really working. On this combine, the rotating blades are held up by two wheels --- more realistic, yes, but less "functional" (for play). My son doesn't mind, it seems.
I like the quality of this toy, overall. It's fun... if your child is into it.

(More customer reviews)After spending $30 on this 5 pack of construction vehicles, I expected them to hold up a little better than they did. There is a VERY minimal amount of "metal" in these, they are mostly plastic. One of them broke the first day when my 3 year old was playing with them, not even doing anything rough or out of the ordinary. I never would have paid $30 if I had known they would break so easy and had such a tiny amount of metal to them.

1:16 Grain Auger Review

(More customer reviews)My 4 year old plays with this all the time. We had used cardboard tubes to pretend we had an auger, but now he can actually see the "grain" go up the tube. Now he can see what really happens close up instead of just off the back of a grain truck. We have rice in a sand table (so it can be inside)and this works decently but I think it would be better if you put sand in it. The hopper could be a bit bigger because you need to fill it constantly which irritates the little kids. Great learning tool for little ones who need to know how things are put together and how they work.
