SceneMaster HO Scale Vehicles - Hearse Review

SceneMaster HO Scale Vehicles - Hearse

I'm not sure where they got the product dimensions for this item, maybe from the packaging. The hearse is only about 1.5" x .5". I would say it is smaller than a match box car. For $[...], it is way over priced. There are no details on this model. I could do better with a block of black sculpti and a silver marker. VERY disappointed. I will be returning this as soon as possible. Not remotely similar to picture. Amazon should be ashamed of this one. I wouldn't give it a star at all if I didn't have to.

Titanium Series Ultra Vehicle Galactica Review

Unlike its smaller brothers, this is scaled properly.
You don't think WTF.
That being said, it's not perfect.
My experience so far has been that the BG series lacks QA.
This unit fresh from the box had chipped thrusters.
Come on guys, get off UR a55es & treat these things right!
The paint is light grey with mottled purple, so it looks space worn.
Overall, the Cylons have no chance.
:)

HO DC Mercedes Benz Sprinter Van, FedEx Ground Review

HO DC Mercedes Benz Sprinter Van, FedEx Ground
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This is a matchbox-size exact replica of a FedEx delivery van. It's so realistic that my 21-month old granddaughter at first kept trying to open the doors, which don't open. It comes in a small plastic display case but is more fun if you take it out and let little ones play with it. It's solidly made and the rubber wheels run smoothly. We set up the small package it came in as an improvised tunnel and she loves "driving" it through. She also moves it by hand up and down the curved top end of her crib, like she's driving it over a hill. Use some imagination and it will keep them entertained.

Christmas Gift, HOTER® Remote Control Car Speed Demon Racing Car, 1:43 Scale Review

Christmas Gift, HOTERandreg; Remote Control Car Speed Demon Racing Car, 1:43 Scale
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
The big difference between these cars and others in similar style and price is Die Cast. I thought they were kidding when I ordered one but to my delight, when I opened the box, there was a well tooled little replica of a red Ferrari. The pictures do it no justice - unlike the plastic toys from other manufacturers, this model is nice enough to sit on a display shelf.
I fired it up and found that it runs just fast enough to keep you on your toes through the kitchen, down the hall and back through the dining room. Two at different frequencies would provide some good racing. Bright white headlights come on when you're going forward - good for night racing - and red tail lights come on in reverse. Very cool.
Controls are basic as they are with all cars in this price range: Full speed or full turn, so you drive by letting off either for a moment, then back on. Charging is quick and the car goes for a good 6-10 minutes before it needs another.
Caution: Give the floor (track) a good dusting before you drive. If you roll over hair and dust and it gets wrapped around an axle, you'll have to unscrew the chassis from the body (easy to do) and pull the stuff off with tweezers. You will need a jeweler's sized Philips (not included).
Most fun I've had under $20 for a long time.

I did not receive the plane pictured - a Sky Champ plane with pull-back action spinning propeller. The plane looked the same, but no pullback stand or propeller mechanism. You can save yourself $4 and get the same type kit by InAir, but have some fun building it by getting the following:

After purchasing and receiving the Hot Wheels 60th Anniversary Ferrari. My son immediately began examining the car. It is a very heavy car. The doors open and close, the steering wheel turns the wheels. It also has a spare tire and very realistic engine parts. If you are a fan of Hot Wheels and die cast cars this is a must have to add to your collection.

HOT WHEELS STAR TREK KLINGON BIRD-OF-PREY Review

HOT WHEELS STAR TREK KLINGON BIRD-OF-PREY
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
The fourth release in the Hot Wheels 'Star Trek' line is the 'Klingon Bird-Of-Prey'. First seen in "Star Trek III - The Search For Spock", the ship was originally supposed to be of Romulan origin ( hence the traditional Romulan 'bird of prey' moniker and markings ), but changed hands when the Klingons became the major villains of the film. The filming miniature created for the movie was used in the four following feature films, and showed up in episodes of "Star Trek - The Next Generation", and "Star Trek - Deep Space Nine", establishing the design as one of the most recognizable in the series.
This toy version of the ship is largest in scale of the four releases, and seems very accurate in it's overall shape, and molded in detailing
( which has been pretty consistent with these Hot Wheels ships, so far ). The application of painted on details is very well done and gives the model a nicely finished look. Another nice touch are two translucent red plastic pieces; a tiny one in the forward torpedo tube, and a larger one where the glowing engines were seen in the movies.
This toy has a great action feature which allows the wings to be set in three different 'flight' positions, allowing the user to recreate the most often seen 'poses' of the ship.
All of the models are supplied with a sturdy plastic stand topped by a ball joint which fits securely in the bottom of the toy. This allows the ship to be tilted in different positions. This stand has a silver embossed Klingon emblem and a translucent green top ( as opposed to the 'Federation' ships, which have the Starfleet emblem and dark blue tops ).
Unfortunately, this toy shares another trait common to all the others in this line, in that the packaging advertises it as die cast metal. Just like the others, there is but one small piece of metal on the whole toy ( the upper half of the of the central hull and command pod ). The rest of the model ( lower hull, wings, guns, engines ) is all molded in plastic. I would not have as much of a problem with this if these toys were marketed as 'die cast metal and plastic' That would be a bit more honest.
The Bird Of Prey toy has now eclipsed the former "best of the bunch" - The Reliant- in overall looks, detailing, and visual appeal. The model is another nice display piece, but again ( as usual with this toy line ) points off for the lack of actual metal in the toy.

SMITHSONIAN InAir E-Z Build - P51 Mustang Review

SMITHSONIAN InAir E-Z Build - P51 Mustang
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I picked this up for a 6-year old boy at the Andrew Air Force Base airshow. We were able to mostly assemble it sitting under a tree at the show, while waiting for the line for the buses to queue down. I say mostly because at one piece - part of the tail - was poorly cast and would not fit. The kit came with a small screw driver, so in theory no tools are needed. Once home, I was able to use a knife to make the one piece fit and later cut off a small piece of the landing gear so they better fold up into the wing. While the control surfaces do not move, the prop turns and the landing gear folds up and down. The instructions are drawings, there are no words. No painting or gluing was required.
But for that hassle, the boy plays and plays and plays with it. It has encouraged him to ask many questions about airplanes, how they work and how these planes were used. It has encouraged him to learn more about WWII and history. It has held up well under some pretty rough play.
Additionally, I love the look of the model. It just looks great and seems to be a very nice, for the price, scale model of the Mustang. It would certainly look good on a desk as well.
I would not hesitate to purchase it again.

Speed Racer - Diecast 1:32 Scale Mach 5 Vehicle Review

Speed Racer - Diecast 1:32 Scale Mach 5 Vehicle
Average Reviews:

We have two of these (each kid had to have his own). The toy is a good playable size and made of die-cast metal. That's good! However, on both toys I purchased, the upright tail fins came off in the first hour of play. I tried a couple times to glue them back on but the pieces are small and don't have much of a groove on the car to reattach them.
So, if you're looking for a toy to make your kid happy, go with it. If you are looking for a durable collectors' item then you might want to be careful about the fins!

Unimax Forces of Valor 1:72nd Scale U.S. P-51D Mustang Review

Unimax Forces of Valor 1:72nd Scale U.S. P-51D Mustang
Average Reviews:

My wife picked up one for my four-year-old grandson for Christmas. He loves it and so do I. He knows the P51 from History Channel's Dogfights.BTW, the Amazon site lists the same model for $24.95 and $65.00 (today) depending on vendor. Shop carefully. It is actually better than it looks on the website.
I doubt that anything is durable enough for a four year old, but the construction is quite good, the parts fit nicely, the landing gear retract (with some effort and touch required on the tail gear.) For an adult, it would last a lifetime. He hasn't broken it yet and he hasn't put it down.
My grandson's favorite plane is the Bf (Me)- 109. (They tend to have the most daring and skilled pilots.) I'll have to consider getting a Unimax copy for his birthday.
UPDATE: Two months later, he's turned five, got the Bf-109 for his birthday (also fantastic!) and still hasn't damaged the P51! And he still loves it.

Schylling Diecast Airplane Assortment Review

Schylling Diecast Airplane Assortment
Average Reviews:

I have had 3 or 4 of these for my boys over the years. They love them. You pull them back, let go and they shoot forward and the propellor spins. While the plane is quite sturdy, little fingers will break the propellor eventually. My kids still liked them once broken but not as well. I am sure I let my kids play with them at a younger age then you are suppose to, but that is when they are most facinated. They used them heavily from age 2-6. If you don't want to deal with the propellor, look for the Jet Blue or AirForce One pull backs. They won't break (but aren't quite as cool).
