SUPER ELITE Batmobile 1966 all all Review

SUPER ELITE Batmobile 1966 all all
Average Reviews:

The Mattel Hot Wheels 1966 TV Batmobile Super Elite is a super disappointment for the price. The $100-ish "elite" version looks almost identical and is $200 cheaper! A couple of metal pieces and a plastic antenna do not make a $200 difference. The baggy looking parachute packs looks inaccurate and ridiculous. Overall, the car is overpriced and very inaccurate compared to the actual TV car. The two lower end models are much better values for the money...I suggest buying one of them and customizing them to look like the TV car!

We get a lot of model cars in to The Car Room for review, and the occasional model really stands out. This "1966 TV Batmobile", patterned after the much-loved hero car designed by George Barris in the 1960's, is a killer release for a few reasons. First off is the shape - the Mattel tool makers have really nailed the classic finned swoop of the car, which was built off the 1955 Lincoln "Futura" concept - and they've painted and decorated the model beautifully. Next is the level of features, which includes opening doors, hood, and trunk, steerable wheels, and - if you really feel you must - a delicate, photo-etched "Bat Detector" you can spin (carefully) with a fingertip.
The chrome on this one is a cut above the "Standard" release, which eschews some of the features of this "Elite" version in favor of a lower price; the pricier (by far) "Super Elite" version above this model tags for around $300.00... and doesn't necessarily deliver all that much more in the way of features and materials. Unless you simply have to have the aluminum display stand that the top-shelf model offers (as well as a few added metal parts, which really don't affect the display of the car), that makes this mid-level model the smart choice in terms of bang for the buck.
And there's "bang" everywhere: The fanciful (but believable) jet turbine engine under the hood, the coiled red wire to the "Bat Phone" (hands-free laws be damned), and the scale-correct metal mesh used in all of the car's bat-themed grille work, bump the model up into a visual level usually enjoyed by professionally built museum pieces. Add in a solid construction (though I'd be wary of purchasing this one for anyone under the age of 14, due to the occasional fragile part), a nice-enough window box, and a price point that's well in line with other models of this detail in this scale, and there's a lot to like here. Add a star if you've got a cape somewhere in your closet. We do.

I loved this case. Unfortunatelly, I didn't receive the Batmobile from Batman Begins and Dark Knight (like the picture of the the case), and received 3 of the same Batmobile. I preferred to receive one of each one Batmobile, but I liked the case, and I will make new orders on Amazon. Thanks.

Hot Wheels 1:18 Scale Battle Damaged Batmobile Rare Limited Edition 1/10,000 : G3665

This is a beautiful Diecast car, from whatever direction you look at it.
It is a customized 2004 Hot wheels limited edition 1:18 scale Battle Damaged Batmobile.
It comes with it's own display case built into the package.
There were only 10,000 of these made in 2004 and the collectors have sucked them up.
This is a car that was not recieved well when it was first released.
People complained that the damage was not real, only painted to look damaged.
They wantee to see real holes in the body.
People did not like the red and orange paint accented the chrome and intake tube.
That was then.
Today one of these cars new sealed in the original box, can sell for as much as $400.00 easily.
Good luck on finding one like that though, It's been almost 20 years since that car was released. Only diehard collectors would have one sealed today and to get on in that condition at $400.00 dollars would be a steal.

This is a quality toy Batmobile. I received it quickly after my order was placed. I was surprised about the size. I thought I was buying one that the action figure could fit into--the price should have given me a clue. It would make a nice display item in a collection; good detail and nice paint job.

Hot Wheels Batman 1966 Batmobile & Batcycle Scale 1/50 Review

Hot Wheels Batman 1966 Batmobile and Batcycle Scale 1/50
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I didn't buy this set of four here on Amazon, in the stores they sell them separately (and there's five batmobiles to chose from so who knows why they left out the Dark Knight one here). I guess they do four together to save on postage or something. Anyway the cars are very well detailed, there's even little batsymbols on the hubcaps on the 1966 TV series one (see my customer image for the 1966 batmobile. I haven't studied the vehicles against footage from the TV show/movies to see if it is 100% accurate but from my memory of what the cars looked like on the screen, apart from the grill maybe being grey on the 1966 TV show (although I stand to be corrected) the Hot Wheels vehicle looks the same to me.
There are five bat vehicles out there (four batmobiles, one batcycle). They are The Dark Knight batmobile (which looks like it may well be the same as the previous movie), Animated Series Batmobile, Comic Book batmobile, 1966 TV Series Batmobile and also from the TV show the lesser used Batcycle.
Your normal everyday Hot Wheels brand die cast vehicle is usually a bit less well made with cheaper looking wheels etc than Matchbox and other competitors but that is not the case with this one. It comes under the Hot Wheels Collectors brand so maybe because its not primarily aimed at kids better quality is put into the vehicle.
I was only interested in purchasing the 1966 TV series Batmobile but I did have a look at the other four vehicles and the quality was just as good. Whether you are a collector or buying it as a gift for a child the batmobiles are a great purchase.
Like most Hot Wheels vehicles though it is not possible to take the cars out of the packaging without destroying the packaging.

Hot Wheels Elite 1966 Batmobile Review

Hot Wheels Elite 1966 Batmobile
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Hot Wheels made several versions of this car in 1;18 scale.
There is a standard version of unlimited production numbers.
three elites
and one
super elite
Of the four elites only two are numbered.
The matte black version 1/5000
and the
Chrome version 1/ 3000.
For some odd reason the super elite and the high gloss black elite have no numbers.
The high gloss elite is estimated at about 1/17000
The Super elite is estimated at 1/3000 but no body seems to know for sure.
Put your money on the matte black or the Chrome version to be the chase car.
The standard version is ok for a child. The adult collector will want an elite because of all the extra added detail.
All are beautifully designed cars but the elites go that extra mile in detail.
The matte black is beautifully painted with one flaw on the drivers door beneath the red strip..( some have a gloss black paint on them below this point).
The Chrome elite is stunning, by all rights it should have been the super elite.
The chrome is beautifully layered onto the vehicle, true eye candy.
The elites have lots of tiny and deilcute parts that make the elites a display vehicle only.
Under the hood is a beautifully designed chrome plated Jet Turbine engine.
The trunk open to reveal the Bat crime computer.
The details that define a Hot Wheel Elite are extensive and noteworthy.
This is a car where the fun is in looking at the details.
Not much eductional value here, unless you are studying the details of the Batmobile.
You could pay over a hundred dollars for a limited edition Elite Batmobile,
This is one diecast car that is worth it.
Get one of the elites while they are still plentiful and priced within reason.

Batman Vehicle Playset - Batmobile, Batwing and Joker Van Review

Batman Vehicle Playset - Batmobile, Batwing and Joker Van
Average Reviews:

This was a great set from Ertl that came out in 1989, when the live action Batman movie with Michael Keaton came out. The vehicle design is the same as the movie. The 3 pieces in this set are similar in scale to Micro Machines, very cool and tiny, the Batmobile is about 2 inches long. Also includes the Batwing plane, and the Joker Van. Nice to see this 20 year old toy still for sale.

Hot Wheels Batman 1966 TV Series Batmobile Review

Hot Wheels Batman 1966 TV Series Batmobile
Average Reviews:

Hot Wheels has done it again. This little 4 inch beauty captures the contours and details of the original Batmobile, not perfectly - but better than any other toy company has before.
There are a few inaccuracies. For example; the 'antennas' beside the central beacon flare out like wings rather than standing straight up and down as they should, and the 'rocket tubes' just ahead of the trunk on the car are severely shortened ( although I believe this was done for child safety reasons ). Also the bat emblems on the doors are out of scale, and the gold cross shaped 'laser/radar antenna' on the hood is a little big. But considering all the details they got right ( down to the tiny "Batphone" in the cockpit ), and the fact that the overall shape is spot on, I can live with the minor flaws.
This toy, along with the 1:50 scale Batcycle, and the fantastic 1:18 scale Batmobile - all from Hot Wheels - are a '60's Batman fan's dream come true.

Johnny Lightning DC Comic Book 1960's Diecast 1/24 Batmobile Model Review

Johnny Lightning DC Comic Book 1960's Diecast 1/24 Batmobile Model

The reason this Batmobile does not resemble the one from the televison show in some respects is that it is based on the comic book, not the TV show. I am not sure if Playing Mantis has the license for the show or not, but I do know they have a Batplane model which was never in the show.
I have the '50s model and the '60s model, and both are fun to build and great to display.

Grandpa's Drag-u-la Dragula "The Munsters" Movie Review

Grandpa's Drag-u-la Dragula The Munsters Movie
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
If you're looking for the Munster's "DRAGULA", this isn't it. It's a good knockoff but there are many things different from the original. The Casket isn't shaped correctly (Too WIDE). The canopy isn't scaled well to the casket (Too small). The canopy is not clear in the back like the real deal. The gas tank is not the correct shape. The thing won't ROLL because there is too much front wheel play and they tend to go off in two different directions (Might have been better to have the wheels FIXED instead of turning). Front wheel spokes are a little heavy along with the Steering linkage (too thick). That's the bad news... Overall it doesn't look bad especially if you're not real familiar with the original. They seem to have put a bit more effort behind the Munster Coach than the Dragula. Overall about 6 out of 10. The Munster Coach maybe 8 or 9 out of 10.

1966 TV Series Batmobile 1/43 Elite Review

1966 TV Series Batmobile 1/43 Elite
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
It seems as though Mattel is doing their best to fill the void left in the lives of fans of the 1966 Batmobile during the last 20 years, by releasing replicas in every size and variety conceivable. Fortunately, most of these Hot Wheels vehicles have been very good, and this one is no exception.
It's a mystery as to why Hot Wheels decided to release this particular version in only an 'Elite Limited Edition', since this size replica would be probably the most desired by 'Batman' fans of a certain age. It's 1:43 scale makes it approximately the same size as the highly treasured vintage Corgi Batmobiles produced from 1966 through the late 70's. Although it doesn't feature the action features of the original Corgi toy ( such as the spring loaded 'chain slicer' or the thumb wheel activated missle launching rocket tubes ), this Hot Wheels replica is far more faithful in body shape and detailing. It was created ( as was it's larger scale cousins ) from scans taken of the original number one Batmobile, in the possession of George Barris, making it very accurate ( not 100%, as nitpickers will tell you, but extremely close ). It has wonderful detailing, such as the distinctive red pinstriping and the miniature Batphone between the seats.
It comes mounted in a nice collector's case which displays the car nicely, and allows movement of the working steering linkage. If one desires, the underside screws can be taken out, and the car removed - but why bother, when it looks so nice in it's case ( and really, this is not a toy that you'd want your kids rolling around on the floor ).
As I said in the title, it makes a great companion piece if you have one of the vintage Corgi's around, and visual comparison of the two shows just how far attention to accuracy has come in the last thirty years.

SDCC Comic Con 2008 Hot Wheels Exclusive 3 Pack Batgirl Cycle Batmobile & Batcycle Review

SDCC Comic Con 2008 Hot Wheels Exclusive 3 Pack Batgirl Cycle Batmobile and Batcycle
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This limited edition set, available only at the 2008 San Diego Comic Con, contains the previously released Hot Wheels '1:50' replicas of the 1966 Television series Batmobile and Batcycle in a nice display box. However, the main component of interest for collectors is the replica of the 'Batgirl Cycle', which at this point has ONLY been made available this way. Whether it remains exclusive to this box set remains to be seen, although I find it hard to believe that Hot Wheels would go to the expense and trouble of licensing and creating a sculpt for an entire new vehicle, and not try to maximize the return on their investment by making it available to the general public.
The Batgirl cycle, while not 100% accurate ( as so few replicas are ), is still a delightful little toy, with hysterically overdone details - faithful to the television series - such as the the lacy fringe around the front cowling, and the large ribbon bow under the taillight. The body is rendered in purple with yellow trim, and has a white seat and fuel tank. It appears to be in scale with the equally accurate Batcycle, but both cycles are completely out of scale with the Batmobile giving the lie to the "1:50 scale" description.
All three vehicles are securely mounted on posts that protrude through the bottom of the inner display diorama. The inner box artwork is designed to give the vague impression of the interior of the '60s Batcave, with three 'turntables' printed on the floor underneath each vehicle ( in the series the Batmobile would revolve on a turntable platform to orient the car towards the cave exit after the "dynamic duo" would return from their latest adventure ). While by no means accurate to the series, the artwork makes a nice backdrop to display the toys against.
The box exterior is decorated in a rocky brown motif representing the outside of the cave, with the series "Batman" logo on the side flaps. On the rear panel is brief description of each vehicle, and the SDCC logo is on the top of the box.
Now to answer the question posed in my headline: Is it necessary? Well, that depends on how much of a Batman collector you are, how much you want to spend, and whether you are willing to take a chance and wait to see whether or not Hot Wheels will eventually release the Batgirl Cycle by itself. I am a collector, so I went ahead and ordered it - despite the fact that I already bought the Batmobile and Batcycle separately - as I wasn't willing to take the chance on missing out. If you feel that way about your collection, then I would advise you to go ahead and get the set. If you're not that hot for the Batgirl cycle, I would say skip it and wait.

1/50 Hot Wheels Batman Forever Batmobile Series 3 Review

1/50 Hot Wheels Batman Forever Batmobile Series 3
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This is a beautifully designed car.
Hot wheels version of the Batman Forever Batmobile is a surprise of design.
The cockpit slides open to reveal a interior that looks like it was formed from mirrors.
The vehicle is multi layered with plastic and die cast used to create multi faceted body.
Soft removable rubber threaded tires, Chrome accents, two tone body color.
I did not really care for this car until I held it in my hands.
I immediatly purchased more after seeing first hand just how well this vehicle designed.
For it's scale Hot Wheels did an impressive job on this replica
Not 100% movie accurate but the most detailed die cast model available.
This is one that will be very hard to find by the end of the year.
The price is sure to rise quickly as availability decreases.
Buy a couple of these, you will be glad you did.
