Yamato, named after the ancient Japanese Yamato Province, was a battleship of the Imperial Japanese Navy during World War II. Flagship of the Japanese Combined Fleet, she was lead ship of the Yamato class. She and her sister ship, Musashi, were the largest and heaviest battleships ever constructed, displacing 72,800 tonnes at full load, and armed with nine 46 cm (18.1 inch) main guns. Constructed from 1937 ? 1940 and formally commissioned in late 1941, Yamato served as the flagship of Admiral Isoroku Yamamoto throughout 1942, first sailing as part of the Combined Fleet during the Battle of Midway in June 1942.

(More customer reviews)My 5 year-old was thrilled to have received this toy. It is impressively large with lots of great details. The tall part of it does not seat well, and so falls off with handling. The little die-cast vehicles are substantial, although the helicopter was missing a wheel. He does not play much with this toy on his own, but likes to play with it with my husband. They set up their soldiers and vehicles and commence battle. Sometimes the superheroes join in, and the Lego guys, too.

(More customer reviews)The seller of this toy failed to mention that it wasn't exactly what his description said it was, and, after several email attempts to contact him, failed to resolve the issue. He did not contact me at all. When I gave him a bad review, his resolution, which seems to be a scripted resolution that he just clicks on and adds to the site, was the same as he offered all other bad reviewing customers. Some silly 10% off other products from him. Why would I want to buy another product from an untrustworthy, very flawed business?
