(More customer reviews)A few years ago Product Enterprise began making these die-cast replicas of the famed Eagle spacecraft from the Gerry Anderson TV show Space: 1999. They come in several variations -- this one with the large laboratory cargo module. Cargo modules can be removed and interchanged.
These are well made and reasonably accurate. One significant inaccuracy is the dark grey coloration of the box inside the front and rear cages. Apart from that, nice paint job. The landing gear are stationary (no springs).

Space Explorer Space Shuttle Launch Center Playset with Educational Rocket Poster Review

(More customer reviews)We bought this toy for our 3 year old son who was asking for a "rocket ship" after watching a recent Shuttle launch. We're happy with this because it's a realistic looking Shuttle that has both the orbiter and the fuel tank/rocket boosters. The orbiter's payload bay doors open. The orbiter and the fuel tank separate and can be put back together relatively easily. It's fairly stable as it sits on the launch pad, however the two gray "stands" that are supposed to hold the orbiter in place do not lock or snap on to the launch pad and fall off when moved. Tape is required to hold them place. The astronauts serve no real purpose other than imaginative play because they do not fit inside the shuttle at all (and are not the appropriate scale).
Overall, it's been an ideal toy for a young child who is curious about the space program and wants a realistic looking shuttle to play with.

InAir E-Z Build Model Kit - Space Shuttle Review

(More customer reviews)I bought this kit for my son's 10th birthday. He started building it eagerly, but was quickly flummoxed by plastic pieces that either kept popping out of where they were supposed to go (the long narrow panels that open up at the top of shuttle) or broke off entirely (the wheels).
The assembly is indeed "E-Z," taking maybe only 10 minutes. But given its rather flimsy nature, there's not much you can do with it after assembling the darned thing other than look at it. In retrospect I wish I had bought him a more challenging kit that would have represented a more substantial accomplishment.
