(More customer reviews)My 4 1/2 year old has loved everything having to do with space since he realized there were moon and stars in the sky. He recently watched Apollo 13 (the edited IMAX version) and LOVED it. This toy really brought to life what was going on. He plays with it for hours. The only reason I did not give it 5 stars was because the Saturn rocket's 3 stages don't fit as tightly as they probably could and so even after a few weeks it began to be wobbly and won't stay together unless setting on a hard surface. The other pieces are just fine.

Revell Boeing C-17 Globemaster III Review

(More customer reviews)I purchased this kit back in January and initially, (and I guess this is the funny part) I thought it was a 1:48 scale kit. Why did I come to this conclusion? because when I did a search for 1:48 scale kits, this came up and also all of my C-130s and B-1Bs (which are 1:48 scale) were all within the $40 to $50 price range.
So lets start things off this way... This is a review for a 1:144 scale Revell-Germany (made in Poland) model of a C-17 Globemaster III. Overall, the kit is good. Details are as to be expected when dealing with a 1:144 scale model. Cargo ramps are positionable, LG bay is ok and so are the engine nacelles.
I'll give it a three star to be fair, but I sincerely think its rather expensive for a 1:144 scale kit.

Revell 1:72 F-18 Blue Angels Review

(More customer reviews)My 5 year old son was DYING for a Blue Angels plane for Christmas after seeing the real thing at an airshow. I thought this model would be perfect. He and his father could construct the plane together since it's a "simple" snap together and then my son could fly it around the house to his heart's content. BUT, the pieces did not fit together well and my son soon abandoned the contruction part in frustration leaving my husband to do it himself yet even HE had difficulty getting the parts to fit together and had to use Super Glue on both tail wings because once snapped in, they just sagged flat. The cockpit cover was missing completely from the box, so we went without. The stickers are cool, but so tiny and delicate they could only be applied by an adult. But the worst part is that this model should NOT be described as a "toy." It's so delicate and I was contantly reminding my son to "be very gentle" lest the plane should break and break his heart as well. He finally got tired of not being able to really "play" with the plane, so it now sits on a shelf in his bedroom untouched. Final verdict: this is a model for much older children to assemble and display, NOT a toy for a child to enjoy. And it's not even that great of a model, either. Big disappointment.

Revell 1:24 '65 Mustang 2+2 Fastback Review

(More customer reviews)The model comes molded in white, clear and chrome plastic parts. You'll need to sand and cut some pieces to make them fit perfectly, but even if you don't have (or don't want to) spend a lot of time building, you will have a fairly good model. The recommended paint scheme is fairly simple, although you will need 10-15 colours, almost all of which can be used for other models because this one requires only touch ups with almost every colour (eg one stroke with transparent orange and transparent red for the taillights and turn signals). Revell produced this model several years ago, and their more recent models are much better in quality and provide more decals for the interior. Also, the body colour as recommended (poppy red) will be hard to find (since it's no longer produced) if you are looking to paint it as on the box. All in all, a great stock muscle car that's better than the '64 stock mustang, but not as good as Revell's currently produced '07242 Shelby Mustang GT 350 H'. PBY-5 Catalina USAF Rescue Aircraft Built-Up Die Cast 1-150 Model Power Review

(More customer reviews)OK, let me start with the fact that I am a fan of Model Power toys, some of which are sold under the IXO and DelPrado names as well. If you do your price-comparison homework, you will find most of these airplanes are in the $10 - $15 range, which is very reasonable, considering other firms charge over $20 for their airliner models.
What you get is a 1/100 scale model of a Consolidated PBY5 Catalina, with retracted gear and wingtip floats. This is currently one of three schemes the company offers, so check out the others and decide which one you like best before committing. At about 6 inches in length, she is a small bird. This has advantages and disadvantages. The small size makes for a nice model that takes up little space. The main disadvantage is that a scale such as 1/144 would be more in line with other commercial airplane models on the market. In addition, on the plus side, Model Power's policy of making models that "fit the box" helps ensure the prices for these little treasures are consistent and do not vary too much according to aircraft type; on the minus side, this policy is something of an anachronism in this day and age; its scale may not be compatable with other Model Power offerings. Nothing is perfect in the real world - or fantasy world, either.
Most important, does the model accurately depict its subject? You bet! My two complaints are minor: the elevator is made of plastic (though that is a weakness of some airplane miniatures costing far more, as well) and the cockpit windows are a tiny bit off. Otherwise, the detailing is truly impressive, both in the shape of the model and the detailed painting. As with much costlier replicas, no decals are used - everything is painted on! This little guy does full justice to the beauty and grace of the original aircraft, and I would not hesitate to recommend it to any collector (I say "collector," as the plane, though sturdy, is defintely a not toy to be played with).

Forces of Valor U.S. P-51D Mustang Review

(More customer reviews)This model is beautiful. It is a little smaller in real life than I initially expected. However, the detail is really beautiful, and it seems durable. It is fairly heavy for its size. The propeller spins great. I enjoy blowing on it and watching it spin. There is an antennae behind the canopy, which seems somewhat sharp. I actually stuck myself with it by accident. Given that I have kids in the apartment, I decided to clip it off with a nail clipper to avoid anyone else getting stuck with it. Since then, I have bought several other airplane models, and they all have antennaes as well. i am starting to regret cutting it off now! Of the four 1:72 plane models I have, This is probably my favorite one. The spitfire is a close second.
