You'll only probably want this one if you're getting every car in the series. In both this second release of Universal Monster die-cast vehicles by Johnny Lightning, along with the first release, better Creature from the Black Lagoon vehicles can be found. This I guess is the most reptiley looking car of them all being dark green and with its headlights and all, but why you're probably buying cars from this great series is for the brilliant artwork. This artwork you've got to look at for a while to work out what it is (part of the creature on the bonnet and a black sketch of him on the doors).
Better from this second (red carded) release is the 1933 Willy's Panel Van where the creature is painted onto the sides (along with a full moon) and the roof as well. Then from the first series (blue carded blister packs) you've got the 49 Mercury and the 57 Chevy Bel Air convertible is another great option. Both have great artwork of the Creature from the Black Lagoon.
Like all vehicles in the second release, this one comes with a bonus car cover and this one is green with black squares which I would guess are supposed to look like scales. It's the same one you get with the 1933 Panel Van.

The artwork from both of the Johnny Lightning Universal Monster series was simply brilliant. Which is why it's mind boggling that they didn't bother to put in any effort at all with this one. It's like they were in a hurry to come up with another car, some guy in design said, "You know the aerovette kind of look batty if you squint your eyes!" "Yes That'll do!" the accountant's showing them the deadline replied. Just throw in the car cover with the word Dracula you're already using for the Hispano Suiza Cabriolet and people will buy it because you know, they want the whole set. "Shouldn't we at least put an image of Dracula on it?" an employee asked. "Don't you want to go home on time?" or something like this was probably the response. Get the Cabriolet instead, or better yet one of the Dracula themed vehicles from the first 2004 blue blister card release instead!

Nice artwork reminiscent of the original 2004 release vehicles (ones on blue carded blister packs) is on each side of this van of the wolf man with a lady unconscious or dead in his arms. There's another guy holding a long handed axe or something, maybe about to attack the Wolfman, haven't seen the movie so don't know. It's a nice mural whatever it is. The brown car cover with this one is hairy! There's nothing one the roof though, which is a bit of a missed opportunity. On the rear doors you can see Wolfman in the right window. He looks like he's about to start wrestling so I guess he was captured and put in the back. Or maybe its designed so you pull up behind the van at the lights and think Wolfman's about to attack you!
All the vehicles that made up the Universal Monsters Release 2 series are -
1 1980 Aerovette - just a black car with red windows and no decals give it a miss. It has a Dracula car cover.
2 Hispano Suiza Cabriolet - this is the best of release 2 vehicles, is an old fashioned convertible similar to what Mr Burns drives on The Simpsons and the one that was in the Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade film. It has a bat flying in front of the full moon on the doors and Dracula written on the boot (trunk). The car cover is black.
3 Howlaboo Fantasy Custom- brown dragster type vehicle wolf man themed.
4 This 1976 Ford Van
5 Corvette Stingray - The Phantom of the Opera is on the side of this dark grey Corvette and a skeleton is on the bonnet (hood). The car cover is red just like a theatre curtain.
6 2001 Hummer - A really bad paint job means this dark green hummer with yellow painted windows and part of Frankenstein's head painted on the roof is a bit of a joke. Unless you're collecting the whole series, give this one a miss!
7 1965 Shelby Cobra Daytona Coupe - You've got to look hard at the black decals (sides) and light green (bonnet/hood) on this dark green vehicle to even make out what it is. It's the Creature from the Black Lagoon. There's much better vehicles promoting this guy, one in this series as well as the original that are so much better than this. A light green car cover is supposed to look like scales.
8 1933 Willy's Panel Van- Much better tribute to the Creature from Black Lagoon, the creature is painted onto the sides (along with a full moon) and the roof as well. The logo words are also on the doors.
9 Chrysler Atlantic Concept - Comes with Egyptian hieroglyphic car cover. This dark sand coloured vehicle has the mummy on the doors and some hieroglyphics on the bonnet.
10 1971 Pontiac GTP Judge - Mummy themed again, but this time with a human on the side who I assumed fights the mummy in the film or turns into it.
11 - Lotus Esprit - Marketed as Frankenstein but is pretty much just chains on the side of a lotus.

This The Mummy themed Atlantic Concept vehicle's paint job I guess look like sand as it does have little bits of glitter that make it sparkle like wet sand does. But then again aren't you more likely to find wet sand down at the beach then in the desert where the pyramids are. The bonnet has hieroglyphics on it, the sides a picture of The Mummy about to claw you with the text The Mummy logo on the doors. The roof has no artwork on it at all, a missed opportunity to lift this average vehicle for sure. The rear window has some black decals on it but I can't work out what it's supposed to be an image of. Like the other car in the second release (1971 Pontiac GTO Judge) this one also comes with the same Egyptian hieroglyphic car cover.
If you want a decent The Mummy themed car look at Johnny Lightning's original release of Universal Monster vehicles (ones on the blue cards). The best is the 40 Ford Pick-Up (sorry these weren't on Amazon at the time of this review to provide links), however that vehicle comes with a nice image of the Mummy with it's left arm reaching out to grab you on both the doors and in the rear ute tray. You'll also find the Mummy released as the Haulin' Hearse which has the Mummy on the sides and even a mummified crocodile on the roof. Also the 40 Ford Panel Van which is officially Dracula themed has The Mummy on the sides with Frankenstein's Monster, he's also on the back along with the Wolfman, Frankenstein's Monster and the Creature from the Black Lagoon. Dracula is on the roof of that one which is why it is under the Dracula classification. I'd pick from or get all the three from the first blue card release (2004) instead of either of the Mummy vehicles from the red (2005) card release.

The 1933 Willys Panel Van was one of only two vehicles in the second release that continued on with the greatest artwork ever to appear on die-cast vehicles from the first Universal Monsters (2004 blue backing card) series. The only other from this second release (2005 red backing cards) was the 1976 Ford Van (Wolfman themed). There are some other great cars amongst the rest of this series, a couple not so great as well, but these are the only two with great murals of classic Universal monsters on the sides, which I'm guessing were left over from selection from the first release.
This 1933 Willys Panel Van has the Creature from the Black Lagoon in a sort of American Indian how hand in the air pose on the sides. A full moon is over his shoulder. The roof image isn't as clear or as good and may have been why this didn't make the cut in the first series is of the Creature standing up with both hands in the air, the same colour green background behind him is pretty stupid and doesn't allow him to stand out. Like all the vehicles in this second release it comes with a car cover, this one is green and black (the exact same design as the other Creature from the Black Lagoon vehicle's car cover), with the movies text logo on the sides.
If you're only going to buy one Creature from the Black Lagoon vehicle I'd get the 49 Mercury from the first blue carded release. Also from the 2004 release 57 Chevy Bel Air is another great option from the previous series. As mentioned before there's also a second option from this second red carded release, however unless you're going to collect all the vehicles, I'd give the 1965 Shelby Cobra Daytona Coupe from this series a miss as it's paintwork is pretty average.

The artwork on this vehicle is simple, the wolfman in almost human appearance on the doors. The artwork is actually a bit disappointing when you consider the other wolfman vehicles Johnny Lightning released in this second (red blister card) and the original universal monsters series (blue blister cards). Although better artwork would have been nice and even a missed opportunity for any artwork at all on the roof, this vehicle comes with something no other die-cast vehicle I've ever come across does. Hair! The body, nose or whatever you call the part of the car between the cabin and front wheels has brown hair (fur maybe) along the top. If you use your imagination and picture the car (which is where better artwork with maybe the sides of a wolf's eye and upper face instead of the actor wolfman image would have helped) and picture the car as the wolf's head then the hair would be along his nose. The two headlights then sort of resemble pointing up teeth.
The interior of the car is a red with the outside a brown colour. The rear tyres have the words Wolf Wheels in capitals on them. The back window has the white text The Wolfman logo on it. Like all vehicles in the second release this comes with a car cover and just like the 1976 Ford Van in this series, it is also hairy.
All the vehicles that made up the Universal Monsters Release 2 series are -
1 1980 Aerovette - just a black car with red windows and no decals give it a miss. It has a Dracula car cover.
2 Hispano Suiza Cabriolet - Dracula themed and nice car!
