If you go by the sellers product name only, the item you are purchasing is correct. However the image and product description are not the same as what is listed under the product name. Let me see if I can sort this out for you.
LA TOYS ETCETERA calls this item...
Hot Wheels: Star Trek USS Enterprise NCC-1701 Refit Collector's Edition
When you refer to the U.S.S. Enterprise as a refit, you are referencing the incarnation of the U.S.S. Enterprise in the first six Star Trek films starring William Shattner as Captain Kirk. (This was the ship model I recieved)
LA TOYS ETCETERA continues with this product description...
Product Features
Star Trek U.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701 Refit
Die-cast version of 1:50 scale model
Display stand included
Collector's Edition
Based on Star Trek: X
So we have the top line referring to NCC-1701 refit and the last line referring to Star Trek X. The image included from LA TOYS ETCETERA is in fact the ship from Star Trek X starring Christopher Pine as Captain Kirk. (This was the ship model I actually wanted)
HENSE THE CONFUSION!!!
To further boggle your mind their model number is...
Item model number: 8511-NCC-1701R
Mattel's Model number P8511 actually refers the ship featured in Star Trek IV, V and VI where they added NCC-1701-A when they replaced Kirk's ship which was destroyed in Star Trek III: The Search for Spock. It's the same exact ship design, but it has the alternate registry.
Anyhow, I completely understand how vendors can totally get confused by this product. Especially after Mattel release alternate BATTLE DAMAGED versions as well as the U.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701 from the original series.
The safest bet is to go by Mattel's Model Numbers.
If you want the U.S.S. Enterprise Refit NCC-1701 from Star Trek I-III, you want Model P6921.
If You want the U.S.S. Enterprise Refit NCC-1701-A from Star Trek IV-VI, you want Model P8511. (the battle damaged version is P8522).*
If you want the U.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701 from the latest Star Trek film directed by JJ Abrams and starring Christopher Pine as Captain Kirk, you want Model P8509.
If you want the U.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701 from the original series from the 1960s starring William Shattner as Captain Kirk, you want Model R4789.
* each model has a battle damaged version, but I only know the model number for the NCC-1701-A battle damage version.
Anyhow, hope this helps.
