(More customer reviews)I collect TV/Movie themed die-cast cars of all brands and without a doubt Jada's version of the Mach 5 is a lot better than its competitors. Jada's vehicle actually resembles the one in the Japanamation Cartoon of the 60s or whenever it was first produced (I watched it as a kid in the 80's). There's a lot of Mach 5s out there at the moment with collectible/toy companies all trying to cash in on the Speed Racer movie. Surprisingly this is actually one of the cheaper die casts of the Mach 5 out there. Some of them like Hot Wheels with the cheapest looking wheels on the vehicle you've ever seen have seemingly put no effort into their product whatsoever. Jada's is less than double price (and it's still only a few dollars total price) and is well worth paying the difference.
Unlike a lot of other competitor products Jada's Mach 5 is made of die cast metal, so even if your not buying it as a display vehicle and want to give to a kid (or you're going to play with it yourself) it will withstand a lot more slamming into walls, banging on the ground action than its plastic bodied rivals.
Another great feature of this product that rival Die Cast Mach 5's don't do is the front wheels slightly turn.
The only downside is, like the majority of die cast vehicles you buy the packaging cannot be opened and resealed without pretty much destroying it. It is nice packaging though. If you are not an opener with the TV show Text Logo prominent, a nice drawing of the Mach 5 above the bubble containing the diecase vehicle and a little bit of black cardboard complete with checkered flag and the words Mach 5 under the vehicle. The packaging also only uses the same colours that are on the car (mainly white with red and black and the word Die Cast and numeral 5 yellow like the mach 5's headlights) the car in the packaging displays well! A little plastic square at the bottom of the bubble allows the package to stand upright on its own a shelf which is a feature that most other die casts don't do.
A very good product, which also is has nothing indicating it is either a movie (which will date very fast) version product that a lot of competitors do on their packaging. As I said I looked around and this is easily the best one and surprisingly one of the cheapest as well! Scale is 1:55.
