The Matchbox Character Car series was a great range of movie and TV show normal matchbox vehicles with figures of a intentionally slightly larger scale cartoon sketch looking figures attached to the 1/64 sized vehicle . Note that the figures don't come off. This piece, obviously is of collectible value to fans of the Happy Days television program, and those fans might also want to check out the Happy Days Matchbox Star Car, although this is obviously a lot better than that.
The vehicle and Fonzie display extremely well in the packet with the blister card having a faint silhouette of Henry Winkler's face, There is a nice image of Fonzie from the show in the bottom right of the blister which looks more accurate than the figure. If you're collecting the other Matchbox Character Cars as well, and you should, these stack quite nicely on top and next to each other as the pack is flat on top of the blister and like a shop window with straight sides.
This is the only one of the entire Character Car series where the vehicle is a motorbike. I'd love to see more Character Cars in the future, another good motorbike Character Car would be Arnold Schwarzenegger on the motorcycle with shotgun as the T800 for Terminator 2.
Happy Days was well into reruns by my childhood but this Character Car does have a more historical importance to the wider TV watching community as well. Fonzie of course was the character who famously jumped a shark on water-skis and instantly created the Jump the Shark term used when fans of a show know their favourite show is running out of ideas and coming to an end. That makes this a must have for any TV die-cast vehicle collector. Sure Fonzie's not on water-skis but you can easily get yourself a rubber shark and make a little display with this.
