(More customer reviews)Dick Dastardly's Mean Machine is easily the best of the cartoon vehicles you can buy as a die-cast car. It most resembles the actual vehicle seen in the kids cartoons out of all the Johnny Lightning and other brand 1/64 cars out there. It comes with a bonus film cell, if buying online if you don't ask whoever you're buying from it's probably a bit of a mystery which one you'll get. The various cell's obviously affect the price but not too much. You obviously want one that has both Dastardly and of course his dog teammate Mutley. They do both appear on the card behind the blister anyway standing in front of the car so unless you're taking it out of the packet the cell maybe won't matter. The vehicle displays well if kept in the packaging but if you're into opening them the car rolls around nicely too. The only thing the car doesn't have is the glass bubble in the cockpit which you don't notice so much if you keep it in the packaging.
Johnny Lightning also released Penelope Pitstop's vehicle complete with the umbrella. That compact pussycat vehicle is a lot harder and more expensive to come across, not that the mean machine is plentiful or cheap either (you should be able to get it in good blister pack for under $10). Unfortunately Johnny stopped with just these two teams, although these drivers were the most popular and no doubt why they were chosen, some of the other vehicles were a lot more interesting such as the Bouldermobile (driven by the Slag brothers), Creepy Coupe (Addams/Munsters style mansion on wheels), Army Surplus Special and the Buzz Wagon (lumberjack themed vehicle) and are all cars I'd love Johnny Lightning to release in the future.
There were another two cartoon vehicles in this release which are also worth getting. They are Speed Buggy (Speedie) which is also very close to the cartoon and Barney Rubble's Sports Car (log with pointed ends) which although could have been better was still good.
Other cartoon vehicles you might like are the Simpson's vehicles (Homer's pink car, Marge's station wagon, the school bus and Wiggum's patrol car) all made by Johnny Lightning but not on Amazon at the time of this review. Also Speed Racer's Mach 5, Jada's is the one that most resembles the one in the 80's cartoon.
