Part of the mass produced Hot Wheels range in 2010 sold in supermarkets, department and toy stores everywhere means you shouldn't have too look to hard, or pay too much to get one of these for your collection. I love the Hot Wheels creature cars, and the advantage Howlin' Heat has over a lot of other creature cars, is that it still resembles something that potentially could appear on the roads. I mean Fangster, Hot Wheels 2010-179/240 Sharkruiser and other creature cars look great, don't get me wrong, I picked up both this year also from the mass produced range, but where the hey does the driver sit in those vehicles. Howlin heat, even has room for a passenger.
Howlin Heat is sort of a sandy brown, yes it could even be said it is the colour of the werewolf's victims after they have come out of the werewolf following being digested into waste form. Or you could maybe say it's fur coloured. Anyway the teeth and side windows (it doesn't actually have a windshield so I guess it probably wouldn't pass a roadworthy certificate after all), are a nice shiny silver colour. In fact the windows are actually reflective mirrors which is handy for the werewolf if it comes across a human it is not sure is its arch enemy, a vampire or not. If they don't reflect the car known instantly to just run them down! The vehicle's rear spoiler also nicely looks like canine ears and it also has sort of a tail marking, where the boot (trunk) would be, if there was one, which there's not. There's no doors either but the lack of these things does add to the werewolf look and the fact that maybe this one, is alive and doesn't need a driver. Or if it does need the driver it just opens its mouth and they get in that way. It also has a reflective panel between the rear spoilers, in the shape of a fish, ghost or something, no idea what's that for, maybe bats flying overhead, if they don't reflect it knows they are in fact morphed vampires. See it in my customer images. A little Hot Wheels ribbon logo is in front of that shiny thing.
The rear wheels are a lot bigger than the front two, and look good with the car. The front two are your normal cheap mass produced cars, but that's okay since this car is from the normal mass produced range after all, so they did need to keep the costs down. The undercarriage is dark brown plastic, not metal like your usual Hot Wheels vehicle though. For the non taker out of the blister pack collector, this one comes with a nice picture of the vehicle which other than different hubcaps, looks pretty much like the actual car. Most mass market Hot Wheels vehicles use one of a couple of standard backing cards, so this is a nice bonus!
Anyway, get one of these while they're still cheap, and if you're reading this years into the future when you can only obtain them online, I'd still get one too.
Update - You can get a black and red version of Howlin Heat in the 2011 mass produced Hot Wheels range. You can see more of the details of the vehicle in this original colour, but the black and red version is also nice.
