Captain America Avengers Reborn: Captain America Fine Art Statue Review

Captain America Avengers Reborn: Captain America Fine Art Statue

This Kotobukiya statue of Captain America is long out of production and is very hard to find at a low price. Standing approximately 12" tall, this is a limited edition of 1100 statues produced and can be connected with two other Fine Art statues in the series: Thor and Iron Man. As with all Kotobukiya productions, this statue is well-built, solid, and meant to last. The sculpt is terrific, capturing Captain America in a dramatic pose that is intentionally meant to highlight his muscular physique. The Letter A base is a nice touch.
The statue is packed in a medium-sized white box that has a nice depiction of the statue on the back panel. The statue comes with two interchangeable heads: a WW2 helmeted head or a modern masked head. The arm holding the shield fits into place easily and seamlessly via a metal pin. Captain America fits into the base by way of another metal pin on his right boot. The paint job overall is fine, although on mine the red stripes on his back are a bit uneven.
Fans of Captain America are sure to love this collectible statue. It is a true keepsake.

GX-33 Spiderman & Leopardon Soul of Chogokin Metal Figure Review

GX-33 Spiderman and Leopardon Soul of Chogokin Metal Figure
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This is a nice heavy die cast metal SOC "adult collector figure" - dare I say "toy?" Because it isn't, really; nor is it meant to be played with by children. It's a display figure with intricate detail to match the old-school sentai-style Spiderman TV show that aired in Japan. It was inspired by USA's own live-action Spiderman TV show, but of course in Japan, everything has to somehow have a giant robot involved in it, so Spiderman was hooked up with not only a sweet car (that comes with the figure, a little bigger than matchbox-sized) but a wristwatch-like device to call upon the power of Leopardon when the enemies overpowered or over-sized him. He would then hop from his car into Leopardon and continue fighting foes either as a robot or a space ship...kinda vehicle.
The base for the figure is cool because you can store the car in it. The figure also comes with accessories (not a lot like some other sets, though) and a larger-sized vinyl Spiderman figure, including his wrist device, and a stand to hold him up. Leopardon is one of my favorites even though the transformation is kind of basic. The robot lays down and becomes an awkward kind of ship with a big yellow leopard head on the top. Like Battle Fever J, the show is less-known about in the States than later super-sentai style shows, but I'm glad I nabbed one because it's just a really cool robot design. I'm still not sure what a leopard has to do with the spider theme, they never really explain that, but with these shows we're talking about heavy suspension of belief, so...we'll let that go.
4 stars for not really meant to be played with. It's for collectors. 0 stars for educational value: none to speak of, shouldn't apply. 4 stars for it's heavy die cast & plastic, but it has very tiny pieces. Transforms, although the transformation is somewhat less than spectacular (not the toy's fault, really). 4 stars overall: It's not exactly "huge," in fact it's one of the smaller SOC. It represents the TV show's figure perfectly & comes with neat extras including to-size Spiderman in sports car, a base, and larger size vinyl Spiderman figure. Great addition to any SOC / Godaikin collection!
I got it for $120...price will likely go up over time since only so many are made and then no more are produced. The longer you wait the harder it is to find SOC sets.

Like his previous incarnation in the Winter Soldier Fine Art Statue, the New Captain America is dynamically posed flying through the air, crashing into three Hydra troopers. Also sculpted by Junnosuke Abe the modern American hero is outfitted in his current costume, blending the traditional with the new.The classic red, white, and blue are offset by the new black bodysuit, complete with utility belt, combat knife, and pistol!Of course, he is clutching Rogers' original iconic shield. The hero's face is a grimace of anger and determination as he dispenses his own brand of justice.Standing 13 inches tall, the New Captain America has the same high-quality cold cast porcelain construction that all of The Kotobukiya Collection shares, and is a limited, numbered edition. His base forms the other half of the Captain America shield symbol, matching up with the Winter Soldier Fine Art Statue's so the two heroes can fight back to back in a stunning diorama scene! Godzilla MechaGodzilla 12" Classic Figure Review

Godzilla MechaGodzilla 12 Classic Figure
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Although there have been Godzilla toys made in the past that were larger than this, they were usually ridiculously expensive resin statues and such best suited for hardcore collectors. Kiryu (aka MechaGodzilla 3) stands a full 12 inches in height, even managing to dwarf the other "12-inch scale" toy in this line, Godzilla 2004.
He's durable, posable in several places, and surprisingly lightweight. The details are excellent and true to how Kiryu appeared in both the movies and the recent video game Godzilla Unleashed (Wii). I heartily recommend this figure - it's the crown jewel of Bandai Creation's USA Godzilla toyline.

Transformers Movie 2 Deluxe Sideswipe Review

Transformers Movie 2 Deluxe Sideswipe
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Sideswipe is one of the hip new autobots who will appear in the Revenge of the Fallen movie. According to the packaging he likes close combat and is a sword expert.
For kids:
This guy is a sweet ride. He's a silver Corvette concept with blue windows and is probably one of the sportiest cars in the line. He transforms fairly easily but has tons of little bits and parts that move and come apart and go together. Because of this he doesn't seem quite as durable to me as some of the others. His swords are one of the coolest "mech-alive" features I've seen yet though and he's got a pretty cool looking robot form. I think he might frustrate younger kids but most kids will like both the car and robot forms.
For adults:
This guy is still a sweet ride. I even want to drive him around and make engine noises. He is painted silver instead of just molded in a certain color and this makes him pop visually. The downside is that over time I see this paint job chipping around the edges and rubbing off on corners. Another down side is because his is an involved transformation and he's such a bright color there are many visible seam lines.
His transformation isn't difficult but it is intricate with many pieces of the body of the car that move and swivel and break apart. He feels a bit delicate but so far has proven durable. Still, if someone went a little nuts on him he might break easy.
Once in robot mode he looks pretty cool with a sleek head, his shoulders that are the rear fenders of the car and a couple of neat points of articulation action. He has pistons and sliding knee covers in his legs that move as you bend it at the knee and he has four hydraulic rods connecting his leg to his body that slide up and down as you move his legs. The rods are a soft material so they won't snap. That's all pretty neat. He does have a bit too much of the car stuck onto his back though to look fully streamlined. But the biggest complaint is his feet. They look fine but the wheels are at bottom (as in his feet don't sit flat on the ground) which makes standing him up a bit of a chore as you have to wiggle him and his feet around to find balance.
His swords are two thin strips of the doors attached to each elbow. The cool part is if you grab one of the two and pull it around in an arc toward the front of his arm the other one swings in the opposite direction automatically via a cool little gear set up. They meet right in front to form the sword on each arm. It's a cool mechanism and works well. Plus you can take the two parts of the sword part way to make double swords or scissor like weapons or half way to make a shield like weapon. It's versatile and can be used to change up the look.
This is a tough one, I'll rate him four but three and a half would be fair too due to his inability to stand well, many seam lines, his chipping paint job and his delicate nature. Then again he looks cool and has those swords...
