(More customer reviews)I'm a big fan of the Ford Crown Victoria and Mercury Grand Marquis (I even have a real Grand Marquis) so when I saw this Motormax replica, I had to add it to my diecast collection. It's an okay model, and features opening front doors, opening hood and steerable wheels. But it does have some shortcomings, too. First off, the quality could be a little better. For example, the foil applied to the mirrors is rather crude, there's a couple of stray fibers in the paint on mine and one of the rear tires was halfway off from it's wheel (fortunately, it just slips right back on). Second, the front door window frames are cast into the roof and not part of the door like the real car, so the doors look a bit odd when they're open. Most other details are okay. All of the body proportions seem to be right on, just as they should be. The dash has nice simulated guages. The underhood and chassis detail are good but not great. The wheels are convincing replicas of the basic wheel covers Ford put on many police duty Crown Vics from the late Eighties and throughout most of the Nineties. One other thing to note is that it's labeled as a 1998 model, which is incorrect. The combination of grille, tail lights and side window treatment mark it as a 1995-96-97 model; all of these were completely redesigned for the 1998 model year. So, if you want a really super detailed Crown Vic to add to your diecast collection, you may find this one slightly disappointing in some ways. But if you're not too fussy, it's a good model to have. Keep in mind, I'm writing from an adult diecast collector's perspective. If you're buying this for a child, they're probably not going to care about any of the shortcomings one way or the other.
