The Reliant from the Hot Wheels line of ships from Star Trek is arguably the best of the three that have been released so far ( the others are the Enterprise-D from 'Star Trek - The Next Generation, and The Enterprise Refit from the first 6 Star Trek films ). This toy has the largest amount of actual diecast metal of the three, with the entire upper saucer in metal, but the rest of the ship ( the weapons pod, the engines and their connecting struts, and the underside of the saucer ) are still made out of plastic.
The detailing is pretty good on this ship. Molded in details are fairly sharp, and the paint application is far superior to the Enterprise refit ( of course, the slightly larger scale of this ship makes better detail easier to create ). It's a shame that the Enterprise did not get not receive as much care.
I still think that it's a cheat to advertise these ships as diecast metal when so much of them is actually made out of plastic. A much more honest approach would be to say that they are models WITH diecast metal parts, but again, of the three that are already out, you are getting the most metal for your money with the Reliant... and a pretty nice little display item as well.
